Let’s go on an adventure! There are so many fun activities at GFC that will bring out your inner adventurer.Posted on April 24th, 2019
At Greene Family Camp, there are so many activities to do during the day. From joining a soccer scrimmage, shooting off a rocket in STEAM, to making a glass mezuzah in art class, the options are endless. In addition to our typical chug (sport) and hagigah (art) activities, we also have plenty of adventure activities that make the Greene experience full of new opportunities!
Every session, our Niviim through S’ganim campers will participate in a campout with our Tzofim, scouts from Israel! The evening begins with fun, team-building activities led by the scouts, it continues with eating the camp-classic hobo packs for dinner, followed by making pita over the fire and an exclusive unit song session around the campfire. Our campers can even sleep in tents under the stars in the sky!
Our Challenge Course is frequently included in a camper’s highlights of the summer. Our challenge course covers several different activities including low ropes bunk games and teambuilding exercises as well as high ropes elements: including the swing, zipline, vertical playpen and pamper pull, rock wall, diamond course, and alpine tower. Fun fact: If you climb to the top of the alpine tower, you can see pink elephants!
While we have high ropes elements open every Saturday during chufsha (free time), we also give designated times for each unit to participate in the challenge course activities. Bonim, Shorashim and Niviim participate in high ropes as a bunk twice a session during evening chufsha. Kohanim, Shoftim, and Melachim participate in Livnot Kehillah (building community) twice a session, once for low ropes and once for high ropes, where they can work on teambuilding with a challenge course facilitator. S’ganim participates in unit Livnot Kehillah and Kibbutz gets to spend two hours on the ropes course every day!
Lake Jake is a camper favorite at GFC! While campers can participate in boating and canoeing as a chug (sport activity), they can also swim in the lake and play with our many inflatable elements…including the BLOB! All campers have bunk and unit time when they go to the lake for swimming- twice as a bunk and once as a unit. Campers also have the opportunity to take a dip in the water on Saturdays during chufsha (free time).
As a part of our farm program, Horseback Riding is another amazing adventure program at GFC! Twice a session, our Shoftim through Avodah campers have the opportunity to learn how to ride a horse and participate in a trail ride with our horseback riding instructors. Sometimes, our horseback riding trails even go to some more exclusive parts of camp, such as near the campout site and all the way to the back side of the lake!
