The High Holy Days are still a few weeks off, but our team at GFC is already planning the biggest sukkah ever constructed at Greene Family Camp! Sukkot is one of our favorite holidays, and we are getting ready to celebrate it in a big way at our upcoming Sukkot Family Retreat  October 18-20th.  On Sukkot, we are supposed to invite new and old friends to share a meal with us in the sukkah. So of course, we are getting ready to welcome a TON of new friends for Family Retreat, and we need a sukkah big enough to hold all the new friends who will join us. Friends like Nefesh Mountain, the award-winning Jewish bluegrass band Rolling Stone called “refreshingly eclectic,” PJ Library Specialist Alyse Eisenberg from Dallas, and families from all over Texas and Oklahoma will all join us in our sukkah. Together we’ll celebrate Shabbat, sing under the stars, make s’mores by the campfire, and do all kinds of camp activities like arts & crafts, STEM, and ropes course elements. Threaded throughout will be the opportunity to celebrate in the sukkah and make amazing Jewish memories at GFC together as a family.

Jewish families come in all different shapes and sizes; some bring their grandparents, some are intermarried, some have nieces, nephews, or cousins. Your WHOLE family is welcome at Sukkot Family Retreat, and everyone can share in the camp fun. Children in 2nd grade and above are housed in our shared bunk-style housing staffed by our excellent GFC camp counselors who are dedicated to providing a safe and fun camp experience. Those campers in 1st grade and below are housed with their parents but will have their own group of similar age campers to share in activities and programming.

GFC’s Sukkot Family Retreat is a blast for families of all ages; whether you’re checking out camp for the first time or returning to see your old friends, this weekend is all about having fun together at camp. Click the register link HERE, and we’ll see you in Bruceville on October 18-20!!!
