As we head into Shabbat, we’re coming off a week that truly captured what GFC is all about. Maccabiah (Color War) brought an incredible level of energy across camp, and this year’s animated movie theme landed from the moment that news of RGBY broke. Campers and staff fully leaned in: there was creativity everywhere, overflowing excitement, and nonstop ruach (spirit) that carried through every part of camp.
From beginning to end, every team showed up (even purple and orange)! The games were competitive, the performances were entertaining and thoughtful, and fun was had by all – even our Avodah judges. Mazel tov to the Green Team on their well-earned win. At the same time, this week was a strong reminder of something we say often and truly believe: everyone’s a winner at GFC. The memories, the teamwork, and the shared experiences are what really stay with us. (What a shame that next year’s Maccabiah is already canceled…or is it…)
Beyond Maccabiah, camp has continued to feel strong in all the right ways. Activities are popping, campers are trying new things, and our routine has officially set in. Kibbutz also returned from an amazing trip to Austin, adding another highlight to an already full and exciting week.
We’re also excited to share the return of our camp podcast, On the Lily Pod. Originally launched last summer, the first episode of this season just dropped, and it’s already capturing camp in a way that feels real and fun. Led by our amazing Podcasting Gadol, it brings out the voices, stories, and moments that define GFC. It’s an easy way to stay connected and we’re looking forward to what’s ahead this season. And as we close out such a special week, we’re especially excited to welcome so many of you for Visitor’s Shabbat. Having alumni and supporters here to celebrate with us makes this moment even more meaningful. We’re so glad you’re here to experience camp as it is right now.
