Rooted in Jewish Values

Our summer and year-round programs are rooted in four core values:rsz_dsc_5418

  • Myself-Hineni-הנני, being an individual
  • Friendship-Reut-רעות, making meaningful and worthwhile relationships
  • Respect-Kavod-כבוד, respecting your peers and yourself
  • Jewish People-Am Yisrael-עם ישראל,community of Jewish people

These timeless, universal values form the backbone of every program we plan, anchoring each event in our Jewish tradition. It’s just one way we make Judaism relevant, accessible and meaningful today.

40 years of Greene Family Camp

Greene was established in 1976 by interested parents and children to build an unforgettable religious, cultural, recreational, and emotional experience. But our story begins much earlier than that.

During the late sixties and early seventies, members of TOFTY (Texas Oklahoma Federation of Temple Youth) had nowhere to call home.

A campaign began and the Reform Synagogues of Texas and Oklahoma raised much of what was needed to acquire the land and build the camp. But more was required and Edward C. Greene stepped forward with the funds necessary to see the project through completion. Since then, many generous individuals and families have helped Greene Family Camp become the center of Jewish life that it is today.

GFC serves all Reform Jewish congregations in Texas and Oklahoma, and is one of 14 camps in the US and Canada owned by the Union for Reform Judaism.
