Live Like Frankie!

The Frankie Berko Scholarship Fund

The Frankie Berko Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Franklin “Frankie” Berko to help make camp accessible for everyone, but particularly families and children living with chronic health concerns.

Frankie was taken from us when he was just 10 years old. He had been diagnosed with epilepsy before his untimely passing, but that’s not how he would want to be remembered. Instead, he’d want you to know that he lived every day to the fullest.

During the four summers he spent at Greene Family Camp, Frankie made friends with campers and staff alike and had a reputation for being energetic and thoughtful. At night, he would often fall into bed with not an ounce of energy left.

Frankie was incredibly generous and shared his loving spirit with everyone around him. Whether it was a fist bump for a job well done, giving back through community service, or a kind word to someone having a hard day, he cared deeply about others and tried to make the world a better place through gemilut hasadim, or acts of loving kindness.

Frankie would never have been able to accept that a child could not experience the friendship, joy and magic he found at Greene Family Camp. In that spirit, Live Like Frankie was born.
