Summer 2019 is a BIG summer for Greene Family Camp. We are looking forward to everything great about summer camp – trying new activities, meeting new friends and reconnecting with those from previous summers, and celebrating our Judaism together in a sacred community. We are so excited to let you know about SO MANY NEW THINGS happening at GFC this year and this summer – we aren’t quite sure where to start!
- This month, we broke ground on the Goldberg Performing Arts Center, an 85,000 square foot auditorium that will easily be able to accommodate an audience of more than 600 people! The theater has a frontal stage and can also be set up for theater-in-the-round. With trusses for lighting, scenery, and sound – the Goldberg Performing Arts Center will truly elevate our performing arts programming. Not only will those interested in performance and acting find their spotlight, but participants interested in technical theater will also find a place to learn more and truly contribute to our productions at camp. This center willbecome an essential location for worship, performance, and play at Greene Family Camp.
- We are renovating our STEAM center to become the Epstein Science and Technology Center – a state of the art science, technology, engineering and mathematics facility that will house our new GFC SciTech program. With the art room right next door, design elements and creativity will join with science and math. From science experiments to building and programming robots (and everything in between!) the Epstein Center will be a hub of innovation for our SciTech campers and as an elective for our general campers.
- Our cabins are getting a facelift! We are beginning with camper cabins A-K. The renovations will allow for more natural light, provide more cubby space, and open more floor space for fun and bunk programs. We will also be replacing the exteriors, so our cabins will take on a new look to match many of our other newly renovated buildings.
- We are creating the Rabbi Jake and Dr Ellen Jackofsky Faculty Center. The Faculty Lounge is being expanded and enhanced. We are adding the Toomim Camp Kattan Center for Day Camp and Day Care. This Faculty Center will be a hub for our visiting clergy and congregational professionals. All of the exteriors the existing Motel Rooms are also being renovated.
We are so excited for these developments. We are already working to utilize the improved facilities to elevate our program and provide more opportunities for learning and growth for our entire community – campers, staff, and families during the summer and all year long..
We hope to see you and your family at camp this coming year. Make sure to register now for Summer 2019 before our Early Bird discounts end on December 31st – spots are filling up!
