URJ GREENE FAMILY CAMP’S FIRST-TIME CAMPER PROGRAM
We are so excited to announce the
newest addition to our Summer program, Machar!
What is Machar?
In Hebrew, Machar means “tomorrow.” This program is open to campers currently in Kindergarten and 1st grade (’22-’23 School Year) who have never attended a GFC Summer session. This is a chance for our newest and youngest campers to “get their feet wet,” both in the water and in activities, traditions, and programs across camp. It is a little taste of camp for our campers of tomorrow!
Machar is a short introduction to GFC life and is specially designed for campers who are looking to try a Greene Family Camp experience during a 3-night mini session. Whether your child has never spent time away from home or has had overnight experiences elsewhere, Machar offers your child a unique taste of the magic of GFC within a community of Jewish peers.
Campers will stay together in cabins and will be guided by our well-trained staff members. During the day, campers will participate in traditional camp activities, sing favorite camp songs, and eat delicious camp meals in our Dining Hall. They’ll jump in the pool, climb on the ropes course, try a new science experiment, and so much more! At night, Machar campers will engage in evening programs and will say goodnight during Siyum (our bedtime ritual).
Since this program will take place during our Summer session, Machar campers will be surrounded by our full-session campers, giving our young campers the opportunity to meet, interact with, and look up to the positive Jewish role models that are all around them.
Machar is a chance for first-time campers to experience a sweet taste
of the best of some of the Summer fun that GFC has to offer!
