Lainey Komerofsky (she/her) was raised between San Antonio and Austin and participated in any type of Jewish activity that was available to her, whether it was teaching religious school, serving on her local and regional NFTY-TOR boards, or attending GFC as a long-time camper. Lainey attended the College of Charleston from 2018-2022 where she was an active participant and leader in the Jewish community, serving on the Hillel board for 2 years, working as a Jewish student engagement intern, student teaching classes through Jewish Studies, and more. Lainey graduated cum laude from CofC with a BA in Jewish Studies, a BA in Women’s & Gender Studies, and a minor in Sociology.Lainey is currently finishing her role at Congregation Beth Israel in Austin, Texas as the Youth Education & Engagement Coordinator, serving as an admin for the religious school and youth groups. She’s still a proud member of CBI and is thrilled to continue serving the Jewish community through her role at GFC.
Lainey has been part of the GFC community since she was born! Fun fact: she learned how to swim in the GFC pool as a Camp Katan kiddo. Her grandparents were the camp doctor and nurse many moons ago, her parents (one of whom grew up going to GFC) served on faculty when she and her twin brother Gabe were campers, and once she was old enough to start working at camp, she couldn’t wait to get involved. Lainey has been a staff member, leadership member, and faculty member at Greene, and she’s so thrilled to now be a member of the incredible full-time team. Some of Lainey’s favorite things about camp are the people, the ropes course, and the art room!
Lainey lives in Austin, Texas with her two cats Florence and Tevye. She loves kayaking, listening to music, and spending time with friends. Lainey’s dream is to eventually go to rabbinical school and continue to participate in and serve the community she loves so much.
Lainey will begin her role at GFC on September 30.
